Amazon Alexa Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback

From Everything.Sucks

Amazon Alexa, also known simply as Alexa, is a virtual assistant AI technology developed by Amazon, first used in the Amazon Echo smart speakers developed by Amazon Lab126. It is capable of voice interaction, music playback, making to-do lists, setting alarms, streaming podcasts, playing audiobooks, and providing weather, traffic, sports, and other real-time information, such as news. Alexa can also control several smart devices using itself as a home automation system. Users are able to extend the Alexa capabilities by installing "skills" (additional functionality developed by third-party vendors, in other settings more commonly called apps such as weather programs and audio features).

Why does Amazon Alexa suck? Arkin Dharawat, BSc Computer Science & Mathematics, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign says:

Here are a few reasons why voice assistants or (Alexa in this case) haven’t taken over humanity:

General problems:

They don’t get the context of the conversation, they are good for one sentence commands. They have a hard time understanding various accents. Alexa problems:

It’s hard to integrate with music platforms unless your platform is Spotify or Amazon Music. Alexa still feels like a beta product. The setup and integration with Alexa skills aren’t exactly smooth.

Jasyn of Philadelphia, PA mentioned in a review: "The Echo Show pases voice commands slowly. When we Amazon Alexa, it worked great. Now after 2 years Alexa doesn't process the usual commands well. Most of the time I get the response as, "Sorry I am not sure." This is frustrating. Even after I raise my voice to say the basic commands. Also I noticed this activates voice command even when I don't say the wake word."
